A BRIEF HISTORY OF
PHENOLIC FOAM
•
Insul-phen is a rigid phenolic insulation.
•
Phenolic was invented in 1907 by Leo Hendrick Baekeland, who is
regarded as the father of today’s plastics industry.
•
He developed Bakelite - the world’s first synthetic plastics.
•
In the decades that followed, Bakelite was widely used for many
everyday objects.
